Dutch: tricky language. Sounds easy, but it isn’t at all! BOTER means butter, pretty easy, right? HAM means ham, this is also easy... and then we got BOTERHAM which means… bread!!!! Where is the logic? Yes, it is true that we might sometimes put some butter or ham on top of a piece of bread, but is this a good reason to call the bread in this way? It’s like calling a woman ‘Hey man’, just because sometime she might have a man on top of her …
